PHILADELPHIA - A federal class action lawsuit targets Azura over a recent data breach.
Fresenius Vascular Care, Inc., also known as Azura Vascular Care, Inc., is facing a class-action lawsuit filed March 20 by Tyrone Banks on behalf of himself and others similarly affected.
The suit, filed in Philadelphia federal court, alleges that Azura failed to properly secure and safeguard the personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI) of hundreds of thousands of people.
The sensitive patient medical data was reportedly compromised in a cybersecurity incident beginning at least as early as September 27, 2023. The breach is said to have impacted approximately 348,000 patients.
The compromised data included names, mailing addresses, birthdates, Social Security numbers, unspecified "diagnosis and treatment information," and other medical information, the suit says.
Banks alleges that Azura's safeguarding of private information was inadequate and the company failed to provide adequate notice to those affected.
Benjamin Johns and other lawyers at Shub & Johns is representing the plaintiff.
