The case revolves around a product liability claim concerning an Apple Watch Series 7 that allegedly caused severe injuries to Doneza Smith.

Smith's attorney, Jeffrey M. Rosenbaum of Rosenbaum and Associates, P.C., claims that on April 30, 2022, Smith purchased the Apple Watch from Best Buy. On July 29, 2022, while wearing the watch, it suddenly burned her wrist causing significant injuries including numbness and tingling in her wrist, hand, fingers, elbow, and arm.

The plaintiff alleges these injuries have led to ongoing pain and suffering as well as financial losses due to medical expenses and inability to perform daily activities.

Ms. Smith has filed a lawsuit against Apple, Inc., Best Buy, and its subsidiaries in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas (Case ID: 240302315) on May 6, 2024.

The lawsuit asserts that the defendants failed to maintain the watch in a safe condition, did not inspect or repair it adequately, and neglected to warn consumers about potential defects. Smith is seeking judgment for damages.
