Duane Morris is pleased to announce that Intellectual Property Practice Group partners Nicole McLaughlin, David Wolfsohn and Christiane Schuman Campbell were listed in World Trademark Review Global Leaders 2024.

Now in its sixth year of publication, WTR Global Leaders draws on its market-leading research projects—WTR 1000 and WTR 300—to identify the “best of the best in trademark practice” allowing “the wider community to benefit from their insight, experience, and perspectives.”

To qualify for inclusion, individuals must be ranked in the gold tier of the WTR 1000. According to the criteria, all those listed as WTR Global Leaders merit special attention owing not only to their expertise and experience in relation to creating, protecting, managing and enforcing essential brand rights, but also to their ability to innovate, inspire and go above and beyond to deliver for their clients.

Nicole K. McLaughlin is chair of the Trademark, Copyright, Entertainment and Advertising Division of the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. McLaughlin has over 20 years of experience in all facets of domestic and international trademark protection and enforcement, procurement and portfolio management, including clearance searches and opinions, online infringement, domain name and cybersquatting issues, IP licensing, product packaging and trade dress protection and overall global strategic branding. McLaughlin also has extensive experience in litigation matters before U.S. federal courts and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and has successfully defended clients in numerous trademark, unfair competition and trade dress cases. She is known for giving practical advice and working with clients’ legal, marketing and business teams to ensure that marketing strategies and business sensitivities are integrated into her legal analysis and advice.

David J. Wolfsohn is a nationally renowned intellectual property trial lawyer. A fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, he has been described in Chambers USA as a “phenomenal litigator” with a “wonderful combination of technical knowledge and ability to connect with a jury and clients” as well as someone who is “detail oriented, very smart and aggressive in the courtroom.” In 2020, Wolfsohn was named Philadelphia Lawyer of the Year in trademark litigation by Best Lawyers in America, and in 2012 he received that same award for copyright litigation. Among the jury verdicts he has obtained is a defense verdict for the H.J. Heinz Co. in a jury trial over the idea for their “dip and squeeze” design and the largest indirect-profits copyright award in The Graham Company v. USI MidAtlantic.

Christiane Schuman Campbell is vice chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. She counsels clients on development, management and protection of their most valuable assets: their brands. Christi has worked hand-in-hand with some of the world’s most recognizable brands to develop strategies for brand development, clearance, protection, monetization, expansion and enforcement. She serves as a team lead for the Duane Morris Fashion, Retail and Consumer Branded Products Industry Group and is a member of the firm's governing Partners Board. Christi partners with clients that range in size from startups to leading global franchises, in a wide array of industries, including fashion, jewelry, luxury and consumer goods; alcohol; casinos and hospitality; franchise restaurants; medical devices, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, including in the cannabis space; universities; and defense products. She is a trusted adviser and partner to larger clients’ in-house legal teams and regularly called upon to step into an in-house counsel role for smaller and startup clients.
