PITTSBURGH - A truck driver says his haul of tires was improperly loaded, leading to him being bombarded by them when he opened his door to deliver them.

In a June 19 court filing in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, Ralph Spearman has initiated a lawsuit against Hankook Tire America Corporation.

The complaint alleges that due to the negligent loading of tires by Hankook's agents, Spearman sustained severe injuries when the improperly loaded tires fell on him while he was unloading them at Flynn Tires in Carnegie.

Spearman was working as a truck driver for Daceway Trucking. He'd picked up the tires at a Hankook facility in New Jersey and delivered them to Flynn Tires in Carnegie on Jan. 25, 2023.

The plaintiff claims the incident resulted in significant physical and mental suffering, including concussion and shoulder injuries requiring surgery. Spearman is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 for his injuries and associated losses.

Anthony Giannetti of Swartz Culleton represents the plaintiff.
