MEDIA - Delaware County faces a lawsuit from several individuals who allege physical, emotional and sexual abuse at its juvenile detention facility.
A group of plaintiffs, represented by John Guinan and others at Levy Konigsberg LLP, filed a lawsuit July 31 against Delaware County alleging severe and pervasive abuse at the Delaware County Juvenile Detention Center (DCJDC).
The plaintiffs claim they were subjected to physical, mental, and sexual abuse by staff members during their time at the facility.
The complaint alleges a long history of abuse at DCJDC and accuses the county of failing to protect the children under its care. The plaintiffs seek compensatory and punitive damages for negligence, gross negligence, negligent supervision and hiring practices, and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
