HARRISBURG - A rider on a Hersheypark water slide says she suffered a concussion due to its design defect.

A lawsuit was filed Aug. 1 by Laurie L. Quattrocchi against Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company, operating as Hersheypark and ProSlide Technology Inc., in the Dauphin County Court of Common Pleas.

The complaint centers on an incident that occurred on July 15, 2023, at Hersheypark's Boardwalk section. Quattrocchi alleges she suffered a concussion after colliding with a water supply pipe while riding the Coastline Plunge — Whirlwind waterslide.

The suit claims negligence on the part of Hersheypark for failing to verify riders' weights and not warning about the dangers of excessive momentum. She says she rode up the side of the slide but did not have enough time to get back to the bottom safely.

Additionally, it accuses ProSlide Technology of negligent design for placing water supply pipes in areas where riders could collide with them.

Quattrocchi seeks damages exceeding $50,000. Her lawyer is Ethan Feldman of Morgan & Morgan.
