Duquesne Light Company has filed a lawsuit against an individual, alleging negligence that resulted in damage to their property. The complaint was lodged by Duquesne Light Company on November 20, 2024, in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, against Tameka Evans.

The case revolves around an incident that occurred on or about November 21, 2022. According to the complaint, Tameka Evans was driving a Dodge Durango with Indiana license plates near Graham Boulevard in Wilkinsburg when she allegedly collided with a utility pole owned by Duquesne Light Company. The plaintiff claims that Evans operated her vehicle negligently and carelessly, causing significant damage to their electric facilities. Duquesne Light asserts that the defendant failed to maintain control of her vehicle and did not keep a proper lookout for road conditions and traffic, leading to the collision.

In detailing the allegations of negligence, Duquesne Light lists several specific failures on Evans' part. These include failing to maintain her lane of travel, driving at an unsafe speed, and not using her vehicle's brakes effectively to avoid hitting the utility pole. The company argues that these actions constitute a breach of duty of care owed by Evans while operating her vehicle.

As a result of this alleged negligence, Duquesne Light claims they incurred costs amounting to $30,590.61 for repairs and replacements necessary due to the damage caused by the incident. They are seeking this amount in damages from Evans through the court proceedings. Additionally, they request interest on this sum as well as any other relief deemed appropriate by the court.

Representing Duquesne Light Company is attorney Lauren N. Rulli from Pittsburgh. The case is being heard under Case No: CVPDD008S259F818 in the Civil Division-Arbitration section of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas.
