Jazmine Simone Basiege has filed a lawsuit against several individuals, alleging negligence after a dog attack left her with significant injuries. The complaint was filed on January 2, 2025, in the Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County, Pennsylvania, naming Patrick McCarthy Jr., Dorothea McCarthy, Marlene Pflugfelder, Mary Ellen Pflugfelder, Patrick McCarthy Sr., and Devin M. Drago as defendants.

According to the court documents, Basiege accuses the defendants of failing to control their mixed-breed dogs despite being aware of their vicious tendencies. On May 8, 2024, while visiting a property owned by the defendants at 204 Market Street in Port Carbon for a tour with a prospective buyer, Basiege was attacked by the unleashed and unmuzzled dogs. The attack resulted in severe lacerations and puncture wounds to her right thigh, causing permanent scarring and disfigurement. Basiege also claims to have suffered emotional distress and anxiety due to the incident.

The plaintiff asserts that the defendants were negligent in not properly restraining or supervising the dogs despite knowing their dangerous nature. The complaint highlights that this negligence violated Pennsylvania's Dangerous Dog Statute (3 P.S. § 502-A), which mandates owners to keep such animals under control. As a result of this alleged negligence, Basiege seeks compensatory damages not exceeding $50,000 for her physical injuries and emotional suffering.

Representing Jazmine Simone Basiege are attorneys from Donaghue & Labrum LLP: Hugh A. Donaghue, Kathryn L. Labrum, and Tyler J. Therriault. The case is identified under No., 2024 — in the Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County.
