A Pennsylvania resident has filed a lawsuit against a major convenience store chain, alleging negligence that led to a serious personal injury. The complaint was filed by William Edney in the Court of Common Pleas, County of Delaware, on February 10, 2025, against Wawa, Inc.

The case revolves around an incident that occurred on July 13, 2023, when Edney visited a Wawa location at 1100 Calcon Hook Road in Sharon Hill, PA. According to the complaint, Edney was legally on the premises as an invitee or licensee when he tripped over a bicycle obstructing the entryway. This accident allegedly resulted from Wawa's negligence and carelessness in maintaining safe conditions for its patrons. The plaintiff claims to have suffered severe and permanent bodily injuries due to this fall.

Edney's complaint accuses Wawa of failing to properly design, construct, maintain, and repair the premises. Specific allegations include neglecting to monitor or clean the area for dangerous conditions and failing to provide adequate warnings about potential hazards. The plaintiff also asserts that Wawa did not comply with relevant building codes and regulations concerning the safety of their premises. As a result of these alleged oversights, Edney claims to have sustained injuries affecting his neck, back, and left hip among other areas.

In addition to physical injuries, Edney alleges emotional distress caused by the incident. He argues that these injuries have resulted in significant financial losses due to medical expenses and diminished earning capacity. Consequently, Edney is seeking damages not exceeding $50,000 plus reasonable costs from Wawa for their alleged negligence.

Representing William Edney is attorney Marc F. Greenfield from Spear, Greenfield, Richman, Weitz & Taggart P.C., based in Philadelphia. The case is being heard by judges at the Court of Common Pleas in Delaware County under Case ID: CV2025001328.
