Transcript:

Bobby Kirschenbaum L’25: A favorite memory of mine from Penn Carey Law was probably back during my 1L year when I did the hockey arbitration competition with my classmate Rachel Cabot. It entailed getting a player from the NHL who was going into arbitration. We had to argue both the player side and the team side, write briefs, and practice an oral argument. And after finals, we actually did the competition against over 25 other law schools, from around the country. And we won the competition. And it was just a super gratifying and awesome experience, not only to have won it, but also to have combined our love for hockey with some of the skills we learned from our 1L year. And even though it’s a busy time, it was a really awesome experience and something I’ll never forget.

Mehreen Usman L’25: I would say my favorite memory of law school is being a Littleton fellow this year. So basically, I’m a TA for the 1L legal writing class. By providing feedback to 1Ls,  I’ve really been able to actually see the structure of how a brief should be written and how an argument should go, and it was really rewarding to be able to see my 1L’s from the start of their 1L till just a couple weeks ago, they did their oral arguments in the courthouse and I was so proud of them. And they all did really, really well. So it was really rewarding for me,

Jared Turner L’25: For me, it would be the Dean’s Cup, which is a competition between Penn and some other area law schools, and the UVA softball tournament. Each of these things is allowed me to see my classmates in a setting outside of the classroom. Everyone’s brilliant inside of it, but I think that the fun we’ve had in the meeting other law students outside of the classroom has been one of my favorite things, and it’s really tied the experience together for me.

Bryce Klehm C’19, L’25: So one of my favorite memories of being a student here at Penn Carey Law has got to be my first year walking through Silverman Hall. Every single morning on the way to my Torts class with Professor Baker. You have a grand staircase there. It’s very picturesque. It’s really what you imagine a law school to be like. And that walk every morning helped me get ready for the day and be prepared to leave it all on the field.

David Alan Johnson L’25: I’d have to say it was planning the Sadie T.M. Alexander conference. It was hosted by our Black Law Students Association, it planned by two people, but so many others helped pull it together. It was on an important topic, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, that brought out so many heavy hitters who were alumni. The Damon Hewitts, the Deuel Ross’. Even brought out some older alumni, like Professor Austin, who said that this was her favorite conference. You can quote me on that, too. Favorite BLSA Sadie conference, and you really just got to see the love that affinity groups bring to campus, and also to Philadelphia.
