A Philadelphia man filed suit May 13 against a Center City parking lot operator for injuries he allegedly suffered after falling in one of the defendant’s garages.
Attorney Kenneth Edelin, of the firm Silvers, Langsam & Weitzman, P.C., filed the premises liability lawsuit in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas against the Parkway Corporation, which operates many parking lots and garages across the city.
In the complaint, Edelin says his client, Stephan Dean, was walking inside the parking garage at 13th and Filbert streets, a structure owned and operated by the Parkway Corp., in mid-September 2010 when the plaintiff tripped over a rug “that was in disarray,” and fell to the ground.
Dean sustained multiple bulging discs in his back, as well as injuries to his hands and legs, muscle spasms, a concussion, shock to the nervous system and other physical problems, the lawsuit states.
The injuries have caused the plaintiff great pain and suffering, and have prevented him from carrying out his regular duties and occupation, as well as experience a loss of earning capacity, all of which may be permanent in nature, the complaint states.
Dean may have to spend large sums of money to treat his injuries, the lawsuit says.
The plaintiff in the case is seeking damages in a sum not in excess of $50,000, in addition to court costs and attorneys’ fees.
The non-jury case has an arbitration hearing set for Jan. 18, 2012.
The case number is 110501662.
