An employee of a Bucks County company who got his fingers caught in a piece of machinery is suing the business for injuries he allegedly received as a result of the incident.
Philadelphia lawyer Charles Jay Schleifer, of the firm Weinstein, Schleifer & Kupersmith, P.C., filed the personal injury claim July 6 at the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas on behalf of Bristol, Pa. resident Anthony Kamedula.
According to the complaint, Kamedula was working for Tek Tube Group, LLC, and on the premises of the defendant, Roscom, Inc., back on Aug. 3, 2009, when he was instructed to clean a piece of machinery called a “Rotolock.”
The fact that the machine was jammed, coupled with the fact that Kamedula’s latex safety gloves did not fit his hands properly, led to the plaintiff getting his fingers caught in the machine, the suit states.
The lawsuit accuses the defendant of negligence for allowing employees to work on a faulty machine and for not providing them with the proper safety gloves.
As a result of the work-related incident, Kamedula sustained a partial amputation of his right index finger along with a shock to his nervous system and numerous other unspecified bodily injuries, the lawsuit states.
Kamedula has been compelled to expend various sums of money to treat his injuries.
Kamedula demands judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $50,000.
A jury trial has been demanded.
