The Pennsylvania Bar Association Administrative Law Section will present its James S.

Bowman Award to Kevin J. McKeon, a partner in the law firm of Hawke McKeon & Sniscak LLP, Harrisburg. The award will be presented during the state association’s Annual Meeting on May 15 at the Hershey Lodge, Hershey.

The James S. Bowman Award honors a lawyer who is making a significant impact on the practice of administrative law and who is demonstrating leadership in mentoring administrative law practitioners.

A noted expert on Pennsylvania’s appellate process, McKeon is one of the authors of Pennsylvania Appellate Practice, which provides step-by-step procedures for developing an appeal to the Pennsylvania Commonwealth, Superior and Supreme courts, synthesizes Rules of Appellate Procedure and analyzes more than 2,800 legal cases.

McKeon has served as lead counsel and as a consultant to other lawyers on appellate issues in a variety of areas of substantive law before Pennsylvania’s appellate courts.

McKeon is a long-time member of the James S. Bowman American Inn of Court¸ a nonprofit organization that promotes excellence in professionalism, ethics and civility in the practice of law. He has educated and served as a mentor to many members of the organization.

McKeon is a past chair of the PBA Administrative Law Section and is a member of the PBA Utility Law Section. He is a frequent lecturer at continuing legal education programs offered by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the educational arm of the PBA.

Founded in 1895, the Pennsylvania Bar Association strives to promote justice, professional excellence and respect for the law; improve public understanding of the legal system; facilitate access to legal services; and serve the 27,000 lawyers who are members of the association.
