Florida woman sues FedEx, alleging injuries from fall

A Florida woman is suing FedEx, alleging she fell because of a box left negligently in the doorway of a Feasterville home.

Beverly Sands, of Santa Rosa, Fla., filed a lawsuit Aug. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Bensalem-based Federal Ground Package System Inc., or FedEx, alleging a fall caused by the negligently left box.

According to the complaint, on June 13, 2013, a FedEx employee placed a large package at the doorway of the home without properly notifying Sands of the delivery or its close proximity to the door at 157 Henry Ave., Feasterville. On Aug. 28, 2013, the suit says, Sands, returning from Florida, was injured when she came in contact with a package that was left by the door earlier in June.

The lawsuit says the plaintiff had to undergo medical attention and care due to the fall and may hereafter suffer a severe loss of earnings and impairment of earning power capacity.

Sands seeks compensatory damages commensurate with her losses, plus legal costs. She is represented by attorney Keith W. Kokfsy of Clearfield and Kofsky in Philadelphia.

U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania case number 2:15-cv-04733-WB.
