An Easton man is suing his former employer over claims that he was fired after suffering a shoulder injury while at work.
Cordell Pettis filed a lawsuit on Aug. 26 against Pallet Express Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania citing a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
According to the complaint, Pettis was hired in January 2014. Pettis said he suffered an undated work-related shoulder injury and after being evaluated and having an x-ray of his shoulder, was placed on light duty until Oct. 20, 2014, by his doctor at Redi-Care.
The claim states Pettis returned to work on Oct. 16, 2014, and requested to be placed on light-duty work for a period of four days. Mowever, management at Pallet Express allegedly told him they did not have light duty options and terminated him.
Pettis, who is seeking back pay, front pay, salary, reinstatement and insurance, is being represented by Ari R. Karpf of Karpf, Karpf & Cerutti of Bensalem.
