Owners of a Philadelphia ballroom are being sued for reportedly illegally broadcasting the September 2013 Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Saul Alvarez, WBC Light Middleweight Championship fight.
J&J Sports Productions Inc. filed a lawsuit against Chenet LaRose, Wynne LaRose, LaRose Club Inc. and LaRose Catering Ballroom on Aug. 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, citing the unauthorized publication or use of communications.
J&J Sport Productions Inc., a commercial distributor and licenser of sporting events that entered into sublicensing agreements with various commercial throughout North America, alleges that on Sept. 14, 2013, Chenet LaRose and Wynne LaRose specifically directed the employees at La Rose Catering Ballroom to unlawfully intercept and broadcast the championship fight at the La Rose Catering Ballroom.
J&J Sports Productions Inc., who is seeking $170,000 in statutory damages as well as the cost of the lawsuit, filing fees and investigative costs, is being represented by Thomas P. Riley of the Law Offices of Thomas P. Riley of South Pasadena, Calif.
