Cook sues Huntingdon Valley Country Club, claiming he was terminated because of age

Agediscrimination

PHILADELPHIA – Huntingdon Valley Country Club is being sued over a claim of age discrimination by an ex-line cook.

Philadelphia resident Rene Vergara filed lawsuit on Nov. 16 against the Huntingdon Valley Country Club in the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania alleging a violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.

According to the complaint, Vergara, 64, who had been employed at the Huntingdon Valley Country Club for approximately nine years as a line cook, was terminated on Aug. 22, 2014. He claims that management did not provide any explanation for his termination, stating that he was just “not in the club plan anymore,” according to the lawsuit.

Despite management offering in a severance package, Vergara claims he was fired because of his age. He is seeking compensation for any and all pay he would have received had he not been fired plus any all other equitable and legal relief the court may deem just and proper.

He is represented by Ari R. Karpf of Karpf, Karpf and Cerutti, P.C. of Bensalem.
