HARRISBURG – A former hospital employee is suing a Pennsylvania state department, alleging inadequate legal representation in the closing of a state hospital.

Marilyn Marie Smith, William Von Smith and Michael Lee Smith filed a lawsuit Oct. 26 in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against the Department of Welfare Child Support Enforcement and Supply in New Cumberland in response to the closure of Harrisburg State Hospital.

In the complaint, Smith said she had worked for the hospital for at least six years and also reported that her brother, William Von Smith, had ``ineffective counsel to no avail.”

Marilyn Smith did not disclose what she was seeking in filing the lawsuit nor does she have any legal representation.
