HARRISBURG — A Blakeslee woman is suing the Blakeslee Post Office, alleging its negligence caused her to fall and severely injure herself.

Patricia Schouppe filed a lawsuit Feb. 19 in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against Blakeslee Post Office, U.S. Post Office, Kirby Upright, doing business as Lamplighter Associates, and Kirby Upright, doing business as Lamplighter Associates GP, alleging negligence and respondeat superior/vicarious liability.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 20, 2014, Schouppe was at the Blakeslee Post Office, which sits on land owned by the defendant. The suit says after she picked up her mail, she was walking back to her car when she slipped and fell on ice in the parking lot, causing injuries to her right arm, neck, lower back and right leg.

The suit states that Schouppe’s injuries were a result of the defendants’ negligence and a failure to provide a safe walking environment for patrons.

Schouppe seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus interest, costs of suit and damages for delay. She is represented by attorneys Joshua B. Goldberg of Anders, Riegel & Masington LLC, in Bethlehem.
