HARRISBURG — A tractor-trailer driver is suing a trucking company over allegations of disability discrimination.

Edward McGuire filed a lawsuit on April 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against JB Hunt Transport Inc., citing violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.

According to the complaint, McGuire has been a tractor-trailer driver with a long history of transportation experience. In 2008, the plaintiff allegedly suffered from a debilitating injuries while delivering products on the job, resulting in various limitations to his performance of manual tasks.

The plaintiff was offered employment with the defendant, contingent upon his attendance of an orientation on April 13, 2015. The plaintiff claims he was sent home early and was told that he would not be hired due to his physical limitations, which he claims constitutes irrefutable discrimination against him.

McGuire seeks compensation for all lost wages and benefits, punitive damages, costs and expenses of the action, and a trial by jury. He is represented by Ari R. Karpf of Karpf, Karpf & Cerutti PC, in Bensalem.
