PHILADELPHIA — An event coordinator is suing Saucon Valley Country Club, Jamie Siders, Jon Prostak and Jason Goldstein, former employer and supervisors, citing alleged age discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination.
Nancy McCarthy of New Jersey filed a complaint on May 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants, alleging that they violated the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 28, 2014, she requested a meeting to complain about defendants' discriminatory treatment. At the meeting, she made specific complaints to Goldstein that Siders and Prostak were taking adverse actions against her because of her age and favoring the younger co-workers, she claims. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly actively and passively ignored her, excluded her from employee meetings, excluded her from assignment lists and refused to provide her with any guidance or work assignments, even when she would request them; and that they issued performance evaluation that were overwhelmingly negative but lacking in specificity. She claims she was terminated on Dec. 1, 2014, over allegations of unsatisfactory job performance.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks declaratory and injunctive relief declaring the defendants' practices are unlawful, compensation for damages, liquidated damages, attorneys’ fees and costs and for such other relief as the court deems just and equitable. She is represented by David L. Deratzian of Hahalis & Kounoupis PC in Bethlehem.
