PHILADELPHIA — A consumer is suing Financial Asset Management Systems Inc., a debt collector, citing alleged misrepresentation in debt collection.
Lanerah Canales filed a complaint on July 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Financial Asset Management Systems Inc. alleging that the debt collector threatened the plaintiff in an attempt to collect an alleged debt.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in July 2015, she spoke to a representative and was threatened should she fail to make payment for a debt. The plaintiff holds Financial Asset Management Systems, Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly made deceptive and misleading statements in an attempt to collect an alleged debt from the plaintiff.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, statutory damages in the amount of $1,000, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Michael P. Forbes of Law Office of Michael P. Forbes, P.C. in Wayne.
