State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. claims FBI employee caused vehicular accident

PITTSBURGH — An insurance firm has filed suit against a government entity due to insufficient measures allegedly taken to prevent injuries and negligence.

State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. filed a complaint Aug. 16 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against the United States of America (FBI), alleging that the government entity's employee failed to control his vehicle causing damages to the plaintiff's insured vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in December 2015, State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. suffered damages as the result of its insured vehicle being damaged in an accident with an FBI vehicle. The plaintiff holds the United States of America (FBI) responsible because the defendant's employee allegedly disregarded traffic rules while keeping a proper look out.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount of $8,562.25 plus interest and court costs. It is represented by William T. Molczan of Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., LPA in Pittsburgh.
