Worker blames Norfolk Southern, Renzenberger for hand injuries

PHILADELPHIA — A man is blaming his former employer and a contracted firm for an alleged incident in which his fingers were crushed.

William Lemasters III is suing employer Norfolk Southern Railway Corporation a/k/a Norfolk Southern Corporation and van transportation provider Renzenberger Inc., citing alleged liability.

Lemasters filed a complaint on Sept. 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants, alleging that they are at fault for injuries to his hand.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 11, 2014, he sustained serious physical injuries when the operator of a van used to transport Norfolk Southern employees suddenly closed the sliding door, causing the fingers of his right hand to be crushed. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to provide a safe and appropriate transport.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $150,000. He is represented by Michael J. Olley and Lawrence A. Katz of Coffey Kaye Myers & Olley in Bala Cynwyd.
