PITTSBURGH -- A married couple from Pittsburgh are suing an accountant and his firm, citing alleged breach of contract, negligence and negligent misrepresentation.
Craig Jeannine Barrett filed a complaint on Sept. 23 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against Joseph P. Myers individually and JP Myers & Associates LLC, alleging the defendants failed to provide competent accounting services to them.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege they suffered monetary damages from having to pay tax penalties and interest. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible for allegedly breaching a contractual agreement by failing to provide the plaintiffs with the best practices and assistance in accounting services.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $35,000 plus punitive damages.
