Woman blames landlord for wrist fracture

PITTSBURGH — A woman is suing landlord William A. Hammonds, alleging negligence, liability and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Kimberly Stotts filed a complaint on Nov. 21 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against Hammonds, alleging that the property owner failed to trim overgrown vegetation blocking unlit exterior stairs at his property where the plaintiff lived.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on in Nov. 25, 2014, she suffered a fall that caused her to land on her left wrist, causing a fracture. The plaintiff holds Hammonds responsible because the defendant allegedly allowed the dangerous condition to exist and didn't take steps to correct or mitigate the danger.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount that exceeds $35,000 plus any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Marvin Abrams of Allegheny Law Group, LLC in Pittsburgh.
