PITTSBURGH — A lawsuit filed by the then-U.S. secretary of labor against TKB Electric LLC, alleges unpaid wages and violation of workers compensation acts.
On Jan. 17, then-Labor Secretary Thomas E. Perez filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against TKB Electric LLC, alleging that the employer failed to pay its employees back wage compensation.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff claims to have sustained damages on behalf of the employees who were not paid for performing their work. The plaintiff holds TKB Electric LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep accurate work records of its employees, resulting in it not being able to pay its employees proper wages.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant, an injunction against the defendant, back wage compensation plus an equal amount in liquidated damages and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by M. Patricia Smith, Oscar L. Hampton III and John A. Nocito of Office of the Solicitor in Philadelphia.
