PHILADELPHIA — An architectural firm is suing Berks County home developers, citing alleged copyright infringement.

Design Basics LLC filed a complaint on Feb. 3, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Keepsake Homes Inc., Stoudt Construction Inc., Caliper Properties LLC and Denis H. Hafer, alleging that they reproduced the plaintiff's works without permission.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it sustained damages to its business from having their designs reproduced. The plaintiff holds Keepsake Homes, Stoudt Construction, Caliper Properties and Hafer responsible because they allegedly sell residential home designs that they copied from the plaintiff.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, profits, statutory damages, court costs and permanent injunction against the defendants; impounding of all house plans and elevations that infringe on the plaintiff's copyrights; and any further relief this court grants. The plaintiff is represented by Dana A. LeJune of Lejune Law Firm in Houston and Paul J. Kennedy and Noah S. Robbins of Pepper Hamilton LLP in Philadelphia.
