New York resident brings suit against LINA alleging wrongful termination of benefits

Insurance 11

PHILADELPHIA — A New York man is suing Life Insurance Company of North America (LINA), citing alleged breach of contract for denying his disability claim.

Richard Lofgren, an employee of Bechtel Global Corporation, filed a complaint on Feb. 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the insurer alleging that it failed to pay the plaintiff's disability benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, in 2016, he sustained damages from having his short-term disability benefits denied. The plaintiff holds LINA responsible because it allegedly terminated his benefits based on the faulty conclusions of their hired peer-review physician.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant for complete payment of his disability benefits, court costs, interest and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Marc Snyder and Kellyanne Parry Inverso of Rosen, Moss, Snyder & Bleefeld LLP in Jenkintown.
