Norristown woman sues MRS Associates for misrepresentation in debt collection

Law money 06

PHILADELPHIA — A Norristown woman is suing MRS Associates, a debt collector, citing alleged misrepresentation in debt collection.

Gilda Wright filed a complaint on Feb. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania alleging that the debt collector reported the plaintiff's debt to a credit reporting agency despite receiving her dispute letter.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, in 2016, she suffered damages from having her debt wrongly reported to the credit reporting agency. The plaintiff holds MRS Associates responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to tag the debt it reported to the credit reporting agency as disputed by consumer, as required by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

The plaintiff seeks actual damages, statutory damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Antranig Garibian of Garibian Law Offices P.C. in Philadelphia.
