Courtgavelscales062348

MEDIA – A woman who suffered an injurious slip-and-fall at a Wynnewood hospital is suing the facility and the healthcare company which operates it for damages resulting from that accident.

Joan D. McCrossin of Springfield filed suit on Feb. 23 in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas, against Main Line Hospitals, Inc. (doing business as Lankenau Medical Center) of Wynnewood, Main Line Health, Inc. of Radnor and Main Line Healthcare, Inc., of Newtown Square.

“On or about Aug. 1, 2015, Mrs. McCrossin went to Lankenau to visit her daughter, who was a patient undergoing a surgical procedure at Lankenau. At or about the time of the accident, Mrs. McCrossin’s daughter was being transported to the Lankenau Operating Room on a gurney by defendants’ employees,” the complaint reads.

According to the lawsuit, this was taking place on the hospital’s fifth floor. McCrossin was permitted to accompany the employees transporting her daughter to the operating room, and at that point, fell in the “slippery and wet” fifth floor hallway, striking her head and back in the process. McCrossin alleges her fall was caused by large puddles which had been allowed to accumulate in the hospital hallway. Due to the head injury she sustained in the fall, circumstances necessitated McCrossin receive immediate emergency treatment in the hospital.

The plaintiff says she sustained bruising and pain in her right ribs, a head injury, head pain, left shoulder pain, left elbow pain and an abrasion, plus extreme back pain in the accident.

For a count of negligence inclusive of all defendants, the plaintiff is seeking in excess of $50,000, plus attorney’s fees, costs and other relief in this matter.

The plaintiff is represented by Judith P. Rodden and Mary N. Yurick of Pozzuolo Rodden, in Philadelphia.
