Philly woman claims Scott & Associates, Midland Funding misrepresented debt

Law money 04

PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia woman is suing Scott & Associates PC and Midland Funding LLC, collection agencies based in Texas and California, respectively, citing alleged misrepresentation in debt collection.

Noelle D. Johnson filed a complaint on March 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants alleging that they sent a collection letter to the plaintiff containing false representation regarding her debt.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, in January 2017, she sustained damages from being threatened with legal action. The plaintiff holds Scott & Associates and Midland Funding responsible because they allegedly threatened legal action to the plaintiff despite her claims she does not owe money to them.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, statutory damages in the amount of $1,000, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Michael P. Forbes of Law Office of Michael P. Forbes P.C. in Wayne.
