PHILADELPHIA — A Wallingford man is suing United Healthcare Insurance Co., citing alleged breach of contract for being denied benefits he claims he should receive from his deceased partner's life insurance policy.
Richard Bergman filed a complaint on March 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the insurance company refused to pay life insurance due to him.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was denied life benefits that were due him and left by his partner. The plaintiff holds United Healthcare responsible because it allegedly denied further payments to the plaintiff despite being obligated to pay him based on the terms of the policy.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to enforce the life insurance contract between the parties, order the defendant to pay life insurance benefits plus interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Dennis Woody of Woody Law Offices P.C. in Media.
