Debt collection firms filed suit in wrong court, caused legal fees, Wayne man says

PHILADELPHIA — A Wayne man is suing J. Cambece Law Office P.C. and Cach LLC, citing alleged misrepresentation in debt collection when the firms filed against him in the wrong court.

Richard T. Armstrong filed a complaint on March 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania alleging that the defendants filed a case against the plaintiff in the wrong venue, Chester County, in their attempt to collect a credit card debt. Armstrong is not a resident of Chester County.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he sustained damages from incurring legal fees stemming from the error. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly filed the case against the plaintiff in the wrong venue, causing financial damages to the plaintiff.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, treble damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Michael P. Forbes of Law Office of Michael P. Forbes P.C. in Wayne.
