PHILADELPHIA — A Bryn Mawr man is suing Wells Fargo & Company Long Term Disability Plan and Liberty Life Assurance Company of Boston, citing alleged breach of contract for denying his long-term disability insurance claim.

Gordon Wilder filed a complaint on March 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants alleging that they refused to pay his disability benefits. The complaint states he was approved for long-term disability benefits in April of last year but was dropped in September without improvement to his condition.

According to the complaint, Wilder alleges that he is disabled due to having a serious heart condition and related problems. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly terminated his disability benefits despite having sufficient proof to support his claim.

The plaintiff seeks to order the reinstatement of plaintiff to the plan and to award benefits to the plaintiff, as well as court costs, interest and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Stephen G. Console and Emily R. Derstine Friesen of Console Mattiacci Law LLC in Philadelphia.
