PITTSBURGH - A Latrobe man is suing Rent-A-Center Inc., a rent-to-own retailer, citing an alleged violation of provisions of the Family and Medical Leave Act.
Bruce Palmer filed a complaint March 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Rent-A-Center alleging his employer terminated him for exercising his rights to FMLA.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he was terminated from employment for missing work. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because the company allegedly refused to accommodate his disability and instead chose to wrongly dismiss him from employment for missing work.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against Rent-A-Center for double back pay plus interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by John Newborg of Pittsburgh.
