PITTSBURGH - An iron workers' labor group is suing Penn-Ohio Ironworks LLC, a contractor located in Farrell, citing alleged breach of contract for failing to contribute to union funds.
William C. Ligetti and Greg Christy, on behalf of the trustees of the Iron Workers of Western Pennsylvania and its relevant employee funds, and the International Association of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Iron Workers, Local Union No. 3, filed a complaint March 7 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. The plaintiffs allege the defendant failed to remit benefit contributions to the labor group.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege the labor group and the affected employees sustained damages due to unpaid benefit contributions. The plaintiffs hold Penn-Ohio Ironworks responsible because it allegedly became delinquent in paying the contributions to the plaintiff.
The plaintiffs seek to enjoin the defendant and order the defendant to preset for audit, as well as immediate payment of all monies past due, money judgment in the sum of $15,504.11 plus liquidated damages, attorneys' fees of 20 percent of total amount due, court costs, a cash deposit of $20,000 and any further relief the court grants. They are represented by Jeffrey J. Leech and Neil J. Gregorio of Tucker Arensberg PC in Pittsburgh.
