SCRANTON — A Pennsylvania property owner has filed a class action lawsuit against several energy companies, citing alleged breach of contract for not receiving full royalties for the use of his land.

Tyrone J. Thompson, whose property in Bradford County is at issue in the case, filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on March 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against the defendants alleging that they underpaid royalties to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he sustained financial damages from not being paid the actual royalties entitled to him. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to pay their full leases to the plaintiff for working on his land.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages, interest, court costs, injunction against the defendant and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Charles E. Schaffer of Levin, Fishbein, Sedran & Berman in Philadelphia and Larry D. Moffett of Daniel Coker Horton & Bell P.A. in Oxford, Mississippi.
