PITTSBURGH — A veterinarian is suing University Veterinary Specialists LLC, and owners Anthony Horbal and Apryle Horbal, citing alleged breach of contract, unpaid wages, violation of state law and wrongful termination.

Rory Lubold filed a complaint on April 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against the defendants, a McMurray animal hospital and its owners, alleging that they terminated plaintiff's employment without a valid reason.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was damaged from being terminated from his employment and that he was not properly compensated for his work under the terms of his contract. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly breached their contractual agreement with the plaintiff by failing to pay him amounts that were due to him, including severance pay.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and consequential damages, liquidated damages in the amount of 25 percent of the total wages owed, punitive damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Jonathan D. Marcus and Daniel J. Stuart of Marcus & Shapira LLP in Pittsburgh.
