PHILADELPHIA — A Montgomery County woman is suing Prudential Insurance Company of America, as both her employer and insurer through an employee plan, citing alleged breach of contract for denying her long-term disability benefits.
Jamie Hamburg filed a complaint on April 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against New Jersey-based Prudential alleging that it denied plaintiff's claim for long-term disability benefits last year.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was damaged from having her application for long-term disability benefits wrongly denied. The plaintiff holds Prudential responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to grant plaintiff's disability benefits despite having sufficient medical proof of her disability, which was numerous complications and health issues stemming from a surgery.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount that exceeds $150,000, reinstatement of benefits and court costs. She is represented by Vincent M. Vangrossi of Vangrossi & Recchuiti in Norristown.
