Cement masons union brings suit against Bud Concrete for late benefit payments

Law money 04

PHILADELPHIA — A masons group is suing Bud Concrete Inc., a New Jersey company, citing alleged breach of contract for failing to pay into union funds.

Cement Mason's Union Local No. 592 and its various benefit funds, and president and trustee Bill Ousey, filed a complaint on May 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Bud Concrete alleging that the contractor failed to remit benefit payments to the labor group's funds.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they and the employees they represent were financially damaged due to the unpaid contributions. The plaintiffs hold Bud Concrete responsible because it allegedly breached its collective bargaining agreement with the plaintiffs by failing to remit the payments required.

The plaintiffs seek injunction against the defendant and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by Maureen W. Marra of Jennings Sigmond P.C. in Philadelphia.
