Child safety firm alleges patent infringement

Patents 01

PHILADELPHIA — A child safety technology company is suing Nuna Baby Essentials Inc., a Pennsylvania corporation, citing alleged patent infringement.

Britax Child Safety Inc., a South Carolina corporation, filed a complaint on June 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against defendants Nuna International B.V. and Nuna Baby Essentials, alleging that they manufactured products that bear the plaintiff's patent.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Britax Child Safety Inc. sustained damages from having its patent infringed. The plaintiff holds Nuna International B.V. and Nuna Baby Essentials Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly sell child safety seats that infringe on the plaintiff's patents.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to enjoin the defendant. Britax also seeks sufficient damages, interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. They are represented by Chris W. Haaf, N. Dean Powell Jr. and Jonathan E. Harris of Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP in Winston-Salem, N.C.
