31 sue Bayer over birth control device

PHILADELPHIA —Thirty-one people are suing Bayer Corp. and affiliated companies., alleging design defects, liability, negligence and product liability relating to the birth control device Essure.

Pamela Winstrom, Sheri Andamasaris, William Andamasaris, April Amission, Joe Amission, Nicole McElroy, Tonya Palmer, Bridget Chenault, Christina Baker, Linda Helloms, Charles Helloms, Shaqueena Loper, Clarence Loper, Darlissa Sadler, Saudia Jones, Tiffany Dowdy, Terry Page, Anthony Page, Jennifer DeAlmeida, Jarbas DeAlmeida, Rachel Kirby, Eugene Kirby, Megan Berryhill, Nadine Meal, Erika Snoddy, Erin Kemp, Roy Kemp, Julie Pung, Joyce Snotgrass, Mikesha Barnett and Shyra Isham filed a complaint on June 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants, alleging that they manufactured a defective product and sold it to consumers.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they sustained serious physical injuries. The plaintiffs holds Bayer Corp. Bayer Healthcare LLC Bayer Essure Inc. and Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to warn the plaintiffs about the defective nature of Essure.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek general damages, medical expenses, punitive and exemplary damages, interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. They are represented by Joseph G. Sauder and Joseph B. Kenney of McCune·Wright·Arevalo LLP in Berwyn , Penn.
