PHILADELPHIA – A Lafayette Hill man alleges his claim for disability benefits was wrongfully denied.

William Hansel filed a complaint on Aug. 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Aetna Life Insurance Co. and Lincoln National Life Insurance Co. citing the Employee Retirement Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he has been unable to work since February 2016 because of bipolar disorder. The suit states the plaintiff has applied for and been approved for Social Security Disability benefits. He applied for benefits through the defendants in March but was denied, the suit states.

The plaintiff seeks all short-term disability benefits due to the plaintiff, all long-term disability benefits due to the plaintiff, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Kimberly H. Ashbach in Ambler.
