Beaver individual alleges claim for disability benefits was unlawfully denied

ERIE – A Beaver resident alleges his claim for disability benefits was wrongfully denied.

Jamie Lajoy filed a complaint on Aug. 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Lincoln Financial Group and Group Long Term Disability Insurance for Employees of Verland alleging violating of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he has been unable to work as a nurse since 2014 due to cervical stenosis and other medical conditions. He alleges the defendants approved him for short-term disability and ceased payments in March 2016 and also denied him long-term disability benefits.

The plaintiff seeks pay the plaintiff all past due disability benefits due, interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Gregory G. Paul of Morgan & Paul PLLC in Pittsburgh.
