Completion consultant alleges Rice Energy failed to pay overtime wages

ERIE – A man has filed a lawsuit against Rice Energy seeking allegedly unpaid back wages.

Tim Phillips filed a complaint on behalf of himself and all others similarly situated on Aug. 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Rice Energy Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff has worked for the defendant since 2014 as a completion consultant. He alleges he was misclassified an independent contractor while working for the defendants.

The plaintiff holds Rice Energy Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay overtime wages to the plaintiff despite working more than 40 hours per week.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks back wages, liquidated damages equal to the unpaid compensation due to the plaintiff, court costs, unpaid overtime wages and any further relief the court grants.
