Man claims Renaissance Philadelphia Airport Hotel failed to pay overtime wages

Wrongful term 01

PHILADELPHIA — A former employee is suing an employer, citing alleged retaliation, unpaid wages, violation minimum-wage law and compensation acts, and wrongful discharge.

Edwin Zayas filed a complaint Oct. 4 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Columbia Sussex Management LLC, doing business as Renaissance Philadelphia Airport Hotel, alleging the defendant failed to pay the plaintiff proper compensation his work.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he worked more than 40 hours as a houseman but did not receive overtime wages.

The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because it allegedly retaliated against him by terminating his employment based on its claim of insubordination when he complained about not being paid overtime wages.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury, seeks damages for past and future monetary losses, compensatory damages, punitive damages, liquidated damages, court costs, interest and allowance to compensate for negative tax consequences; an injunction enjoining the defendant; an order for the defendant to remove all defamatory memoranda and documentation from the plaintiff's records; and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by David M. Koller of Koller Law LLC in Philadelphia.
