PHILADELPHIA — A former employee is suing a bank, citing alleged retaliation, violation of the Family and Medical Leave Act and violation of workers' compensation acts.
Dorothy Colzie filed a complaint Oct. 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Polonia Bank, alleging that the employer allowed an employee to retaliate and inflict emotional damages to the plaintiff.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2015, she worked as a staff accountant and was required to work extra hours without any compensation. When she complained about this illegal practice she was scrutinized by her supervisor. She also claims she became ill at work and took leave, but returned to work sooner than she should have. She claims this was part of the reason her employment was terminated. The plaintiff holds Polonia Bank responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to act on the plaintiff's complaints made about not getting paid appropriately by her supervisor.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and liquidated damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by David M. Koller of Koller Law LLC in Philadelphia.
