PHILADELPHIA – A Hatboro debt collector is alleged to have mailed a misleading collection letter to a consumer.

Laverne Johnson of Georgia filed a complaint on Oct. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Financial Business and Consumer Solutions Inc., also known as FBCS Inc., alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 19, 2016, she received a collection letter from the defendant regarding an alleged debt and that the letter contains confusing and contradictory statements.

The plaintiff holds Financial Business and Consumer Solutions Inc. responsible because the defendant's statements regarding offers of settlement allegedly is confusing and would cause the least sophisticated consumer to believe he or she may not receive the offers again.

The plaintiff seeks actual damages, statutory damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Antranig Garibian of Garibian Law Offices PC in Philadelphia.
