Philly law firm trying to recover legal fees from longtime clients, according to complaint

Courtgavel87

PHILADELPHIA – A Philadelphia law firm is pursuing recovery of costs and legal fees well in excess of $30,000 each from two of its clients, which it says it represented in a number of prior legal matters.

Spector Gadon & Rosen, P.C. of Philadelphia filed suit in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas on Oct. 23 versus George Manosis, also of Philadelphia, and El Medini of Cherry Hill, N.J.

According to court records, this case is an attempt to collect unpaid legal fees and costs the plaintiff incurred in performing professional services on behalf of and at the request of the defendants in the following legal matters, plus interest:

TD Bank Matter (060817-0003) – $8,168 – Both Defendants

Gryphin Matter (060817-0002) – $22,107.49 – Manosis

Acorn Matter (060817-0001) – $12,617.95 – Manosis

Coba Matter (059031-0015) – $25,706.18 – Medini

Solar Matter (059031-0014) – $7,819.89 – Medini

The suit says the defendants are longtime clients of the plaintiff firm, who engaged them to perform legal services in exchange for billed compensation on an hourly basis. In previous matters, the defendants always made good on their financial obligations to the plaintiff firm, and partial payments were made by Manosis in the Acorn Matter and by Medini in the Coba Matter (already reflected in the balances due), the suit says.

“Defendants jointly owe plaintiff $8,168.90 and individually owe plaintiff an additional $34,725.44 (Manosis) and $33,526.07 (Medini) for legal services rendered and out-of-pocket expenses incurred, exclusive of interest, as set forth in the invoices. Spector Gadon & Rosen has repeatedly requested payment of the amounts due, but defendants have failed to make any payments since Dec. 16, 2015,” the complaint reads.

For multiple counts of breach of contract, account stated, quasi-contract against both defendants, the plaintiff firm is seeking damages not in excess of $50,000, including interest, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and such further relief as is just and equitable.

The plaintiff is represented by Daniel J. Dugan and Johan A. Ashrafzadeh-Kian of Spector Gadon & Rosen, in Philadelphia.
